High Country Fungus's own Daniel Stewart was recently featured in an article by Renée Jean of Cowboy State Daily. The article talks about what Daniel calls "the Shroom Boom." Within recent years, Americans have become more and more interested in mushrooms - for good reason - which has caused the prices for morel mushrooms to skyrocket from $50-$65 to $75 per pound!

If you’re planning to hunt for morels, here are some tips. Morels usually start popping up when nighttime temperatures stay above freezing. A good rule of thumb is to look for them when you see big dandelion blooms and lilac blossoms. You’ll often find them under cottonwood trees or near lady slipper orchids. But always make sure you know what you’re identifying – false morels can look similar but are toxic.
